Bitten Tongue or Lip
 
When a tongue or lip has been bitten, carefully clean the area with a soft cloth. Gently place a cold compress on the area to reduce swelling.
 
If the bleeding does not stop or if there is excessive bleeding, contact Elison Dental Center immediately or go to the emergency room of the hospital.
 
 
Broken Tooth
 
When you experience a broken tooth, carefully clean the area of the mouth with warm water.
 
Your face may experience some swelling so gently place a cold compress on the face. Call Elison Dental Center immediately.
 
 
Knocked out Tooth
 
In the case of a knocked out tooth, handle the tooth very carefully. Handle the tooth by the crown and gently rinse off the root if dirt or debris are present.
 
Be very careful not to remove any attached tissue fragments. Insert the tooth back into its original socket and hold in place.

If the tooth will not fit back in its original socket, put it in a cup of milk and call Elison Dental Center immediately.
 
 
Objects Caught Between Teeth
 
Objects caught between teeth can be irritating and painful. Using dental floss, carefully attempt to remove the object.
 
Do not attempt to use sharp objects or use other teeth as leverage to pry the object loose.
 
 
Possible Broken Jaw
 
Carefully place a cold compress on the jaw to control swelling. Contact Elison Dental Center or a hospital emergency room immediately. 
 
 
Toothache
 
When a toothache is experienced, clean the mouth by rinsing in warm water. Carefully brush and use dental floss to remove anything that may be trapped between the teeth.
 
Make sure that you do not place aspirin directly on the aching tooth or gum tissues. Contact Elison Dental Center as soon as possible.
